NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has captured an image of nebula N44, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The nebula is characterized by a large central void and a surrounding shell of dense, dusty gas.
The central void is a ‘superbubble’ measuring approximately 210 by 140 light-years. D. Gouliermis of NASA explains that glittering stars within the void created it through their stellar winds and supernovae, expelling the gas from which they formed.
