Boutique sales agency FiGa Films has secured worldwide rights to the Guatemalan drama “Nosotros” ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film, written and directed by Joaquín Ruano, will screen in TIFF’s Discovery sidebar.
The acquisition was announced prior to the 51st Toronto Intl. Film Festival. “Nosotros,” which translates to “Us,” marks Ruano's debut feature film.
Ruano stated, “As this is my debut feature, it was essential [to partner with a sales agent who understands and believes in the project].” The reason for prioritizing a partnership with FiGa Films appears to be their understanding of and belief in his first feature-length work.
The film’s premiere at TIFF's Discovery section will provide an international platform for “Nosotros,” allowing FiGa Films to begin distributing it globally. No further details regarding distribution plans were provided.
