Wine-Staging 11.18, an experimental branch of Wine, has been released with 273 patches beyond the upstream Wine 11.18 version. A key focus of this release is enhancing WoW64 support, which allows 32-bit Windows applications to run within a 64-bit environment.
The new patches for WoW64 include checks for binaries before setting the WoW64 entry and preventing the designation of 64-bit binaries as WoW64. These updates address bugs reported in 2019 and 2020 related to kernel services code within WoW64.
Beyond WoW64 improvements, Wine-Staging 11.18 includes patches to resolve a crash in Worms Forts: Under Siege (GOG.com) during the intro sequence. This fix involves converting YV12 to RGB on render within the Quartz code. The release also integrates the latest code from VKD3D. Both Wine-Staging 11.18 and Wine 11.18 are available for download from WineHQ.org.
