Tottenham Hotspur will host Newcastle United as Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi seeks to improve recent results. Tottenham has struggled in the Premier League, accumulating only 79 points from their last 77 matches since the start of the 2024-25 campaign, less than half of Arsenal’s 162 points over the same period. Only 36 of those points have come at home. The team has won only one of their last eight league encounters against Newcastle (D1, L6) and hasn’t secured a clean sheet in 14 matches against them. Newcastle has won 13 Premier League games at Tottenham, more than against any other club. Every meeting between the two sides has resulted in at least one goal scored, totaling 62 matches without a 0-0 draw.
New Tottenham recruit Savio made an immediate impact, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his debut against Charlton. He is the club’s third most expensive signing this summer at £75m (rising to £85m with add-ons). De Zerbi has challenged Savio to significantly improve his goal-scoring record, setting a target of 10-12 goals for the season. “The best wingers score many goals,” De Zerbi stated. “I spoke with him: we put the (target) on 10-12 goals because we need 10-12 goals from the wingers.”
Newcastle is looking to build on a promising start under Jaissle, with Yoane Wissa earning player-of-the-match honors against Liverpool after a strong performance in a new number 10 role. Anthony Elanga also scored his first Premier League goal after a difficult debut season.
