The cast and creatives of ‘Mobland’ reunited in London for the Season 2 premiere Thursday night, following reported behind-the-scenes challenges during production. Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan were present, alongside director Guy Ritchie and executive producer David Glasser.
Glasser publicly praised Hardy at the event, calling him “the captain of our ship” and acknowledging Hardy’s significant involvement in the show’s development, stating Hardy “really, really pushed the envelope for us to get this to where we want to do Season 1 and Season 2, and was with it from the beginning and stayed with it to the bitter end of us getting through this incredible season.” The cast and audience also celebrated Ritchie’s 58th birthday.
Ritchie spoke highly of the cast, describing them as “magnificent” and “monsters of creativity.” He specifically lauded Dame Helen Mirren as “an inspiration and a force of creativity,” and praised both Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy. He then embraced Hardy on stage.
Mirren described Season 2 as “Madder, badder, better,” adding that it is “Chaotic, cool, funny. Frightening, funny.” Brosnan noted the characters’ “frailties” and the cast’s strong working dynamic, stating, “We get on like a great company of actors.” Mirren also highlighted the quality of the writing by Jez Butterworth, praising “the beautiful poetry…the poetic element in the script” as elevating the material.
