Tottenham Hotspur and Everton played to a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leaving Spurs still searching for their first goal and win of the Premier League season.
Antonin Kinsky, Tottenham’s goalkeeper, made a good save from a James Garner free-kick but was also fortunate to recover after a misplaced pass to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Archie Gray earned a rating of 7 for his good runs forward from defense, adding an attacking threat. Jan Paul van Hecke had an early chance but was otherwise composed, while Micky van de Ven was untroubled by Everton’s attack. Andrew Robertson, kept Brennan Johnson under wraps and made surging runs, earning a 7. Rodrigo Bentancur knitted things together in midfield, remaining calm on the ball with a 6. Sandro Tonali showed flashes of class but has yet to justify his £100m price tag, also receiving a 6. Savio had lively moments on the right flank but faded as the game progressed, earning a 7. Mateus Fernandes and Omar Marmoush both received a 5, needing to offer more impact. Dominic Solanke, in his first Premier League start of the season, looked rusty and lacked sharpness, earning a 4.
Substitutes Mohammed Kudus (63’) and James Maddison (77’) had little impact. Lucas Bergvall (63’) tried to give Spurs attacking thrust, with a dangerous cross and a late shot, earning a 6. Mathys Tel (63’) made a couple of tricky runs, receiving a 5.
For Everton, Jordan Pickford made a good late save to deny Bergvall. Jarrad Branthwaite was named the game’s outstanding player after a superb early block and solid performance, earning an 8. James Tarkowski provided a no-nonsense contribution alongside Branthwaite, proving effective. Vitalii Mykolenko had tough moments against Savio but stuck to his task. Harrison Armstrong worked hard, though it was a quieter day for him. James Garner and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall both earned a 5, with Dewsbury-Hall unable to create as Everton lacked attacking threat. Brennan Johnson, playing against his former club, had a poor performance and last touch was missing a huge opportunity.
