Tom Cruise’s announcement of a “Days of Thunder” sequel slated for summer 2028 has sparked interest among NASCAR drivers, who are hoping for cameo roles in the film. Several drivers have expressed their enthusiasm and ideas for potential appearances.

Carson Hocevar, driver of the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, revealed he has been providing input on the movie since January. He met Cruise at Daytona last Saturday, where he learned Cruise is a fan of “The Hurricane.” “Since January, I feel like I've been helping them work on that movie. … They were telling me, 'When he sees you, he's going to recognize you. He loves you.' I was like, 'Oh, that's super cool. That's fun.' It's been super cool that I've been able to put a lot of my input on the movie and help them out,” Hocevar said. He previously joked about wanting to wreck Cruise’s character, Cole Trickle, and believes Cruise is aware of this desire.

Former Cup Series champions Joey Logano (2024) and Kyle Larson (2025) also expressed interest in appearing in the sequel. Logano stated, “Yeah, are you kidding me? That's like wicked cool dad points to be in 'Days of Thunder.' Hopefully that happens. … I wouldn't say no, that's for sure. Absolutely I'd do it.” Larson hopes his appearance wouldn’t detract from the film’s quality, joking, “I'm not an actor, so I don't want to make the film worse.” He described Cruise as “different from the rest of us, in a cool way, like really, really cool,” noting that Cruise already seems knowledgeable about the drivers.

Chase Briscoe, a driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, was surprised by Cruise’s appearance at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona. He recounted that during the pre-race drivers meeting, Cruise simply walked in.
