The 2026 Montclair Film Festival has revealed its opening, closing, and centerpiece films, marking the event’s 15th anniversary. The festival will showcase films starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Pedro Pascal, and Andrew Scott, among others.
The annual New Jersey festival will kick off with Martin McDonagh’s *Wild Horse Nine*, starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. Searchlight Pictures is set to release the film on November 6, following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last week.
The festival will close with Tony Gilroy’s *Behemoth!*, starring Pedro Pascal, which will have its world premiere at the NY Film Festival on October 2 before a December 4 release.
Brad Bird’s *Ray Gunn*, set for a Netflix release on December 18, will be screened as the animation centerpiece. Simon Stone’s *Elsinore*, starring Andrew Scott, will serve as the fiction centerpiece, with a release by Focus Features on November 20 after premiering at the Telluride Film Festival. Ava DuVernay’s *14th* will be the documentary centerpiece, released in select theaters by Netflix on November 27, following its world premiere at the NY Film Festival on October 9.
Montclair Film artistic director Tom Hall stated, “2026 marks the 15th anniversary of the Montclair Film Festival, and it is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for cinema. As we look back on the past 15 years, we have seen remarkable connections forged at our festival, in our education programs, our cinemas and our community. All of that is due to the work of great filmmakers. This year’s festival program features remarkable films made by artists who continue to inspire our work. We can’t wait to share them with our audiences.”
