London-based The Mise En Scène Company has unveiled Human Provenance in Film, a no-cost AI disclosure standard for the film and TV industry. The launch took place at the Cannes Film Market, where the company opened a consultation period running until Oct. 31.
The initiative seeks broad industry participation, inviting input from producers, distributors, insurers, platforms, and exhibitors. The standard includes a taxonomy that groups AI use into specific categories, offering a structured way for the industry to declare how artificial intelligence is employed in productions.
The move comes as the entertainment sector grapples with the growing presence of AI tools and the need for transparency around their use. By proposing a common disclosure framework at no cost, the company aims to foster trust and clarity across the entire value chain.
