LAS VEGAS — The Golden Knights have signed winger Braeden Bowman to a six-year contract extension, beginning with the 2027-28 season. General manager Kelly McCrimmon made the move following a trade that saw Pavel Dorofeyev depart, seeking to replace Dorofeyev’s 37 goals from last season.
The deal has an average annual value of $3.4 million, though Bowman is scheduled to earn $875,000 this coming season, the second year of his current two-year contract. The Golden Knights believe the 6-foot-1, 205-pound 23-year-old provides a physical net presence and scoring ability. McCrimmon hopes Bowman’s development will make the contract a bargain.
Bowman split time last season between the Golden Knights and the Henderson Silver Knights. He recorded eight goals and 18 assists in 54 NHL games, and 12 goals and 14 assists in 20 AHL games. A key factor in the signing is Bowman’s existing relationship with Ryan Craig, now the Golden Knights’ head coach, having played under him in Henderson. Bowman previously played under Bruce Cassidy and John Tortorella, appearing in one game during the Stanley Cup Final against Carolina under Tortorella.
“He's a great coach,” Bowman told KTNV at the team’s golf outing. “He's a great person, too. He's honest, fair — everything you want in a coach.” Bowman stated he spent the offseason preparing for a larger role. “I just focused on getting bigger, stronger,” he said. “I want to make the jump and be a full-time guy, so get stronger, work on my speed and get my pace up.”
