Construction workers in Dendermonde, Belgium, have uncovered a stash of gold bars and coins sealed within the cellar walls of a property, with the haul estimated to be worth approximately €9m (£7.6m).
The discovery occurred earlier this week while builders were drilling to install new sewage pipes. The property is owned by CAW Oost-Vlaanderen, a local welfare charity. Dendermonde is a Flemish town with a population of roughly 47,000 residents.
