The Cleveland Browns are in the process of reducing their roster from 73 players to the NFL-mandated 53-man limit by Saturday at 6:00 PM ET. Initial cuts were announced Friday, with a total of 16 moves made, consisting of four contract terminations and 12 players being waived. Players released with less than four years of service will be subject to waivers, allowing other teams to claim them until Monday at 1:00 PM ET. Veterans with over four years of service can sign with any team immediately.
The first batch of cuts included tight ends Jack Stoll (from IR) and Jermaine Terry II, tight end Drew Biber, offensive tackles Tyre Phillips, Jeremiah Byers, and Izavion Miller, cornerbacks Tre Avery, Tyler Hall, Jeremiah McClendon, and Nate Evans, defensive tackles Coziah Izzard and Patrick Jenkins, defensive end Jamil Muhammad, safety Christopher Edmonds, and punter Nik Constantinou. According to one report, the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers discussed a potential trade involving Tua, which could create an opportunity for another player.
The Browns are scheduled to practice Saturday, with players and offensive coordinator Todd Monken speaking to the media before practice begins at 12:15 PM ET. The team currently has 20 moves remaining to reach the 53-man roster limit. Agents may begin to leak information about players making or being cut from the roster before the official announcements. FanDuel currently lists the Browns at 225/1 odds to win the Super Bowl.
