The 13th installment of ‘American Horror Story’ will premiere on FX and Hulu on September 24, with a cast including Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Emma Roberts. The season is intended as a thank you to fans and will feature nods to past seasons.
The new season of the anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, will consist of 13 half-hour episodes. The first two weeks will each feature three episodes, followed by two episodes released each Thursday, culminating in a 13th and final episode on October 29. According to FX, the season is “an unrivaled 13th installment that will do justice to everyone’s most feared number.”
‘American Horror Story’ has previously explored themes such as a creepy murder house (‘Murder House’), a coven of witches (‘Coven’), a traveling freak show (‘Freak Show’), a haunted hotel (‘Hotel’), and the apocalypse (‘Apocalypse’). Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that this season is “a thank you to the fans for continuing to watch.” He also teased that viewers should “be on the lookout for certain nods to past seasons” and that original costumes from previous seasons have been reused, offering “little Easter eggs.”
The season is executive produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Ned Martel, Charlie Carver, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Tanase Popa, Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Jennifer Salt and Tim Minear. It is produced by 20th Television and has already garnered over 700 million hours of streaming views globally.
