The upcoming Fedora 45 release includes a significant change to the Linux console. The in-kernel text-mode interface has been replaced with kmscon, a software-controlled alternative.
According to The Register, this is the biggest surprise in the Fedora 45 beta. Kmscon is a userspace implementation, aiming to modernize the traditionally basic Linux console experience.
