Rangers will host Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, September 13th, in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final, with a place in the semi-finals at stake. The match kicks off at 12pm BST and will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1 and the Premier Sports Player.
Last season saw Celtic claim both the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup, completing a domestic double. Rangers, now managed by Derek McInnes, have had a mixed start to the season, suffering European elimination but subsequently winning four consecutive Premiership matches. McInnes will be looking for a victory over Celtic to improve his position after early pressure. Celtic, under Martin O'Neill, aim to reclaim the League Cup after a shock defeat to St Mirren last season.
The match will be played without away fans at Ibrox, following incidents during the last meeting between the two sides in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
Rangers will be without captain Lawrence Shankland due to a hamstring tear, adding to existing injuries to Youssef Chermiti and Daisuke Yokota, both also with hamstring issues. Tuur Rommens is nearing a return but will not be available for this match. Celtic will see Kasper Hogh return from injury, and Kieran Tierney is nearing fitness. Martin O'Neill handed a debut to goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in midweek, and Cameron Carter-Vickers is expected to be available after being left out of the previous match.
