Following the first week of the college football season, rankings for Nebraska’s 11 remaining opponents have shifted based on their performances. Nebraska defeated Ohio 49-21, but showed an unbalanced performance in the first half.
The Bowling Green Falcons currently sit at No. 11 on the list after a 20-13 loss to Tarleton State. Tarleton State is ranked No. 5 in the FCS. Bowling Green fell behind 17-0 in the first half and allowed Tarleton State’s running back to rush for 250 yards on 26 carries. The Falcons also surrendered 206 passing yards and two touchdowns on 16 completions. The author notes this sets up a potentially easy game for Nebraska’s running and passing attacks, comparing it to last year’s win over Akron.
Rutgers is ranked No. 10 after losing to UMass, which had been on a 16-game losing streak. UMass won 400 total yards of offense, including 200 rushing yards and 197 passing yards. Dylan Lonergan, in his debut for Rutgers, threw three interceptions and completed 16 of 29 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Rutgers’ running game struggled, totaling 30 yards on 20 carries.
