NASA Launches Orbital Clarity Challenge

NASA has announced the Orbital Clarity Challenge, the sixth in the TechLeap Prize series, a collaborative effort to better understand and predict space weather’s impact on Earth’s atmosphere. The challenge is a joint initiative between NASA’s Heliophysics Division, Flight Opportunities program, and Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation.

The Heliophysics Division studies space weather, focusing on how intense solar activity heats and expands Earth’s outer atmosphere. This process creates orbital drag due to changes in atmospheric density. The Orbital Clarity Challenge aims to address this issue by improving the ability to model and predict these atmospheric changes.

The program is a component of the larger NASA TechLeap Prize series, designed to foster innovation and collaboration in key technological areas.
