Meg Stalter is currently playing Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola’s “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway, a role previously held by Maya Rudolph and Jinkx Monsoon. Her ten-week run concludes in September, following her work on the five-season run of “Hacks,” which received 24 Emmy nominations, including a supporting actress nod for Stalter. She recently partnered with Knorr for their “Ultimate Chicken Roast” campaign.
Stalter described her portrayal of Mary as “very childish,” noting her use of “a lot of sticking my tongue out” and “tongue choreography.” She emphasized the importance of memorizing lines before rehearsals began, advice she received from Maya Rudolph. Stalter expressed excitement about the audition process, stating she wanted the producers to understand her comedic approach and vocal abilities, and she worked with a vocal coach to prepare.
She saw Jinkx Monsoon perform in the show and immediately wanted to be involved. Beyond her stage work, Stalter has become a home cook, leading to a partnership with Knorr. She participated in a “Chicken Roast” event in New York, where guests were served Knorr-seasoned dishes prepared by chef Sohla El-Waylly while Stalter spoke at the event. Stalter is also preparing her red carpet look for the Emmys, stating, “It’s in the works.”
