NASA is partnering with educational programs to provide hands-on experience with its air quality data. The initiative aims to engage educators and teenagers in investigating local air quality using authentic NASA information.
The NASA Science Activation Program’s Cosmic Storytelling with NASA Data (CosmicDS) project, led by Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is working to integrate real NASA data into learning environments. From July 27–29, 2026, the CosmicDS team will collaborate with the Smithsonian Institution’s BEST AQI (Breathing Easier: Supporting Teen Air Quality Investigations) project.
The partnership focuses on empowering educators and learners by giving them direct access to data from TEMPO (Tropospheric Emissions Monitoring Instrument). This allows for investigations into local air quality conditions. The program's goal is to foster a deeper understanding of environmental science through practical application of NASA resources.
