Four-star defensive back Charles Woodson Jr. has committed to the University of Michigan, the program announced. The pledge ties him directly to one of the most celebrated players in Wolverines history.
His father, Charles Woodson, was a two-time All-American at Michigan and won the 1997 Heisman Trophy, the only primarily defensive player to ever claim the award. The elder Woodson went on to a decorated NFL career that included a Super Bowl title and nine Pro Bowl selections.
Woodson Jr.’s decision adds a highly rated defensive prospect to Michigan’s future recruiting class while reviving a famous surname in Ann Arbor. The younger Woodson, a defensive back like his father, will now aim to build his own legacy at the same school where his father became a college football legend.
