The Austin girls tennis team began its season with two losses on Thursday in Rochester, Minnesota, facing tough competition from Rochester Mayo and Rochester John Marshall. Both matches resulted in 7-0 defeats for the Packers.
The Austin Packers (0-2 overall) competed against Rochester Mayo, where Eliana Elder defeated Gisele Hinks 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match. Emily Loftus beat Else Christianson 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, and Eden Bendel won against Paw Clay 6-0 in No. 3 singles. The remaining matches also went in favor of Rochester Mayo, completing the 7-0 sweep.
Following the match against Mayo, Austin faced Rochester John Marshall, with similar results. The team’s start to the season involves facing strong opponents, indicating a challenging schedule for the Packers.
